Jazz on 2nd Avenue
Thank you so much for offering your time to staff our tent at the Jazz on 2nd Ave festival Saturday.  It was good to have Rotary presence at the festival, even though it appears very few people stopped by the tent.

We did have 3 people enter the raffle for the $20 Treppeda’s gift certificate (donated by Howard from Treppeda's), and Glen Key won it.  I’ve left a message for him.  Debra Schumar expressed an interest in Rotary; I’ve left a message for her as well.  And I’ll reach out to Becca Hult who entered the raffle, didn’t win, and didn’t express any interest in Rotary.  You never know what can come of a personal touch.

One other positive was Scott and I meeting the representative from Codigo 1530 (excellent tequila) whose father was a Rotarian in Iowa.  We should be hearing from him soon to schedule a program, and he expressed an interest in joining us once he moves north from Denver.  Their company is housed in the old Crocs facility.

See you Thursday.

Dan.

Exchange Student Excursions

Don't forget to sign up to spend time with our exchange student.  There are many options for outings, plus you can come up with your own.  Let's extend our greetings to him in tangible ways.

The Open World Program
Dear Rotary Club President,
cc: District Governor and Rotary Club Secretary

Greetings from Evanston!

We are pleased to announce new hosting opportunities under the Open World Program during the 2019 calendar year. Next year will mark twentieth-year anniversary of Rotary’s participation in the program.

The Open World Program is available only to Rotary clubs in the United States, and provides an opportunity to build fellowship and friendship to strengthen international understanding by hosting emerging Eurasian leaders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan in your community. Rotary clubs are needed to host six-participant delegations for eight days and nights and prepare a professional program related to business, community, and civic life in the United States. You can view our 2019 hosting themes here.

The program focuses primarily on developing a network of leaders who have an understanding of how American communities deal with contemporary issues and who want to maintain contact with their new American contacts and other counterparts. Often, these collaborations lead to service projects between Rotary clubs in the two countries.

Is your Rotary Club is interested in working on an international project, hosting six Open World participants (emerging and/or current Eurasian leaders) for eight days, and willing to develop an intensive week of programs based on a selected Open World theme? Review the Host Registration Form and email the completed form to OpenWorld@rotary.org by Monday, 15 October 2018.

Find out more about the Open World Program here or email us at OpenWorld@rotary.org.

Sincerely,

Natalia Kunzer
Open World Program Officer
